Rugby Rococo Players

Rugby's leading amateur orchestra

Our Story

Rugby Rococo Players is the town’s premier amateur orchestra, celebrated for our intimate forces and spirited performances.

Founded in the late 1950s by George Dazeley, we have been at the heart of Rugby’s musical life ever since. From our Rococo-inspired beginnings, specialising in repertoire for smaller forces, we’ve delighted audiences with high-standard, engaging concerts.

Over the years we’ve been led by a proud line of conductors: Michael Tillet, Martin Jackson, Peter Bullett, John Stafford, Nick Scott-Burt, Ray Hutchinson, Eddie Jones, Mark Smith, Richard Dunster-Sigtermans, and Zoe Hogan. Today we continue that tradition with a rotating pool of talented people who each bring fresh energy to our termly programmes.
